Our Mission of Safety and Support

Programs & Initiatives

The Scottsdale Police Foundation (SPF) plays a critical role in supporting the Scottsdale Police Department through funding essential programs and initiatives that enhance officer readiness and community safety. By providing advanced training, state-of-the-art equipment, wellness programs, and educational opportunities, we ensure that our officers are well-prepared to serve and protect. Additionally, our youth outreach and leadership development programs foster strong community relationships and prepare future leaders. These initiatives are vital for maintaining a safe and thriving Scottsdale.

Equipment

SPF is dedicated to supporting the Scottsdale Police Department's 400 sworn officers and 264 civilian employees by providing essential tools and equipment. This includes upgrading outdated equipment with advanced, more effective solutions. For example, we have supplied better protective gear for the SWAT team and cutting-edge technology for the Special Investigations Unit.

Our goal is to enhance the Department's capabilities by funding equipment that improves response times and effectiveness in emergencies. This includes providing unmanned aerial systems to locate individuals in distress and respond more rapidly to incidents such as car fires or accidents.

When the Scottsdale Police Department's annual budget cannot cover certain needs, the SPF steps in to supply the necessary equipment. Our primary mission is to ensure that Scottsdale officers can perform their duties to the highest standard while maintaining their safety. By focusing on impactful equipment donations, we strive to enhance the overall safety and security of the City of Scottsdale and its residents.

K-9 Unit

The K-9 unit is an invaluable asset to the Scottsdale Police Department. These highly trained dogs play a crucial role in maintaining safety in our community. Often, the mere presence of a K-9 on the scene can lead to a peaceful surrender, demonstrating their effectiveness in apprehending suspects with minimal force.

In addition to the K-9 unit, the Scottsdale Police Department also employs emotional support dogs, which you may have seen throughout the community. These dogs often accompany School Resource Officers, providing comfort and support to students and staff.
